Bursaries Benefit Langley Nursing Students

LANGLEY –Two local nursing students will each receive a $2,000 bursary to help pay for their education. The Nurses Education Bursary program is offered through StudentAid BC, which helps eligible students offset the cost of their studies through loans, grants, bursaries, scholarships and special programs from the Province.

Why This Matters:

  • The Nurses Education Bursary program was established in 2001 to assist nursing students enrolled in a wide range of eligible programs at post-secondary institutions in British Columbia.
  • Funding is awarded to qualified applicants who demonstrate the greatest financial need.
  • This bursary will help increase the number of skilled health care providers in B.C.

Quotes:

"Our growing population, particularly in the senior age bracket, is putting increased pressure on our health care system. This bursary will not only help nurses finish their education, but hopefully, encourage them to pursue careers here in the Fraser Valley."
-Fort Langley-Aldergrove MLA Rich Coleman

“Programs like this help us meet the growing demands of our community by adding skilled health care providers to our workforce.”
-Langley MLA Mary Polak
